1983: G. S. Moore Roofing

Garry Senior along with his wife Deborah, formed G S Moore Roofing (GSM) in 1983 both at the age of 27. Deborah was in full time employment with a firm of Accountants but covered the admin and financial side for the company. Garry Senior worked alongside a trainee, exclusively offering Mastic Asphalt Roofing, Tanking, Paving and Flooring.

Initially operating as a sole trader, the business slowly expanded with direct contracts for Peabody and Guinness Trusts, allowing Garry Senior to increase the labour force to cover the increased volume of works.

1990: First rail sector contracts awarded

The Company was awarded its first contracts in the rail sector via Survey Construction/Osborne (now Octavius Infrastructure Limited)

1995: Garry Junior and the AELTCC

In 1995 Garry Junior joined the company to learn the trade, working alongside his Father.
It was around that time Garry Senior was approached by Wimbledon Tennis Club and asked to tender for waterproofing works, to the concrete terracing at the AELTCC. The tender was successful, and GSM carried out Heavy Grade Mastic Asphalt to the first nine rows of the terracing on Centre Court.

The contract was completed on time and within budget, which lead to GSM providing waterproofing and roof maintenance for the entire Wimbledon Complex. A service we proudly continue to provide to this day.

In 1997 GSM were invited to tender for Mastic Asphalt works to two major Railway Stations, Paddington and Waterloo. Again, the tender was successful leading to the re-asphalting of 19 Platforms at Waterloo and 4 at Paddington Station.

1999: G S Moore Roofing Contractors Limited

In 1999 Garry & Deborah formed G S Moore Roofing Contractors Limited as both Directors and Shareholders.

With Mastic Asphalt on the decline, new roofing services were introduced, training and development of staff undertaken, and the company began offering Felting, Lead, Slating & Tiling. More and more works were being carried out within the Rail Industry developing our portfolio.

Their daughter, Sarah joined the company in 2003, initially helping Deborah with the admin but later, became the Office Manager and is now a Director of the company. By now, all aspects of roofing works were being carried out to Station buildings and Line-sides etc, across the whole of the Southern Region.

Garry Senior took a step back in 2018, allowing Garry Junior and Sarah to elevate the company to the success it is today.
